An industrial facility located at Unit 6 on Bromford Industrial Estate in Birmingham underwent replacements for its pitched roofs and gutter lining system. The refurbished roof extends the service life of the building by way of weatherproofing.
As the building remained operational throughout, planning around site staff was essential. A secure access scaffolding system was erected for access to the roof and gutters.
Rooflights were installed and Unifold used in the refreshed gutter lining system, providing durability to combat leakages and water management.
Weatherproofing Advisors were successfully appointed by Denholm Industrial Services to undertake the refurbishment of existing metal roof system, incorporating the installation of a new metal oversheet roof and replacement gutter lining system
The existing roof covering had come to the end of its serviceable life. The protective coating to the roof sheet had completely delaminated in numerous places, and the rooflight were so aged that they were transmitting very little sunlight.
A coating option was considered for the remedial works, but after careful consideration it was established that not only will an over roof be guaranteed for longer, but it is also an opportunity to increase the thermal efficiency of the roof and building to current building regulation standards.
Working alongside Denholm Industrial Services, Weatherproofing Advisors installed a new oversheeting solution, comprising of 240mm thick glass fibre insulation quilt, spacer bar and 0.70mm thick Leathergrain coated roof sheet. The existing rooflights were removed and replaced with new double skin Class 0, 3.0kg/m2 GRP rooflights.
Existing gutters were refurbished with the installation of new Unifold gutter liners, providing a durable and watertight solution to address ongoing water ingress and improve rainwater management across the roof area.
The site remained fully operational throughout the project. Working alongside our Denholm colleagues, WPA carefully planned and coordinated all phases of the works to ensure the safety of all site staff and visitors, minimise disruption to the client’s day-to-day activities, ensuring continued access for vehicles, deliveries, and staff. Close liaison with site management enabled roofing works to progress efficiently while maintaining business continuity.
