A Tesco Extra located on Frodsham Street in Chester underwent replacements for its tiled mansard around the roof car park & RAAC deck from a lift shaft’s motor room.The mansard and RAAC were both identified as end of life and in need of replacement.
As the store and car park remained operational throughout, planning around staff and customers was essential. A secure access scaffolding system was erected for access to the mansard and lift shaft.
The mansard had new tiling installed and the lift shaft’s RAAC structure was replaced with a Kingspan insulated deck system. This mansard refurbishment and lift shaft motor room walls/roof replacement eliminates water ingress whilst retaining the original aesthetic of a tiled roofing system.
Weatherproofing Advisors were successfully appointed to replace the asbestos containing tile mansard, remove the RAAC walls and roof structure of the lift shaft at the Tesco Superstore at Chester Frodsham Street.
Weatherproofing Advisors were appointed by Tesco to undertake the safe removal and replacement of an asbestos tiled mansard surrounding the store’s car park, ensuring all works were completed in accordance with current health and safety regulations.
The project also involved the removal of the existing RAAC deck from the lift shaft motor room walls and roof, which was replaced with a new Kingspan insulated deck system.
The completed structure was then fully weatherproofed and finished with a new tiles roofing system, delivering a safe, durable, and compliant roofing solution.
Building on the completed structural works, Weatherproofing Advisors carefully coordinated all phases of the project to minimise disruption to the live Tesco store and its customers, maintaining safe access throughout the programme.
The replacement roofing system was installed to current industry standards, providing enhanced structural integrity, improved thermal performance, and a long-lasting weatherproof finish while ensuring the lift motor room remaining fully protected from the elements.
