Virgin Media Glenrothes premises is a key datacentre hub which services Fife. The metal profile roof was showing the typical signs of degradation and failure associated with a building of this age and type.
Due to the breakdown of various roofing components, water ingress was occurring into the areas below, presenting a risk to people and valuable equipment.
WPA conducted a comprehensive survey of the roof, utilising our qualified drone pilot. In conjunction with our structural engineer, we completed a specification aimed at addressing the issues identified.
The solution was geared towards addressing the water ingress issues with minimum disruption to ongoing operations within the building.
The first stage of the project involved the installation of external scaffolding, roof edge protection and sacrificial safety netting, in order to provide a safe working area at the GRP rooflights.
A new bar and bracket system was installed, following by an insulated plastisol coated steel cladding system incorporating new gutters and flashings. The finished project resulted in a watertight roof with improved energy efficiency.
The client expressed satisfaction with the site management and quality of workmanship, despite the work being executed in a live, sensitive building.
