Tesco’s Express store in Oldham, Greater Manchester underwent a tile replacement by Weatherproofing Advisors after water ingress was identified as having a significant impact on trade.
As the store remained operational throughout, planning around staff and customers was essential to minimise disruption. A secure rear-situated scaffolding system was erected following a thorough assessment of roof access and its suitability for replacement.
Completed refurbishment works on the roof included a Metrolite lightweight roof complete with an array of new tiles. Disruptions to daily activities were kept to a minimum by clearly communicating access arrangements and scheduled times when works should occur, progress was then communicated back to site management/staff. This project resolved the water ingress issues by delivering a durable, watertight replacement tile roof.
Weatherproofing Advisors were successfully appointed to carry out a full roof replacement at Tesco Express in Oldham.
Weatherproofing Advisors were commissioned to investigate a number of persistent water ingress issues that were having a significant impact on trade.
During the survey stage, it was identified that the primary cause was the incorrect installation of modern concrete roof tiles, which were unsuitable for the existing roof pitch.
Due to the ongoing commercial activity within the building, it was also essential that any works were carried out in a manner that minimised further disruption to trade.
To address the issue, a Metrolite lightweight roofing system was specified to replace the existing concrete tiles.
The Metrolite system is suitable for lower roof pitches, enabling the works to be completed efficiently while ensuring the building remained fully protected from the elements and minimising disruption to operations.
To further reduce disruption, the site compound and all associated setup were located to the rear of the store, allowing the store to remain fully operational through the duration of the works.
