Personal fall protection equipment, System Design, Installation, and Inspection. (Code of practice) BS7883:2019
Personal fall protection equipment is designed to ensure that people working at height are adequately protected, and anchor systems are a critical component of PFPE. This British Standard gives recommendations for new anchor system design, installation, use, maintenance, and inspection.
We recently carried out a survey which clearly shows how a poor design can potentially be putting any operative at risk when using such a system to carry out maintenance on guttering or roof-mounted equipment at any time.
During some roofing surveys, we often need to use such systems, and whilst we are always diligent and strict Health & Safety guidelines, it is necessary to advise some clients of the ways some systems can be problematic or indeed in some instances dangerous for anyone to use to carry out any duties or tasks where the system design does not fit the method or purpose of works required.
At Weatherproofing Advisors, we always take the time to truly understand our client’s needs and recommend only the very best overall solution to these and many other similar related issues when carrying out surveys, condition reports, and ongoing maintenance on any project we are involved with.
