Weatherproofing Advisors were successfully appointed by our client to carry out re-surfacing works to the underground car park area of Cathedral square in Newcastle city centre.
The Problem
The existing underground car park areas had been experiencing issues relating to cracks and uneven surfaces along with other related defects to the overall area which were causing disruption to daily operations for all users of the car park.
The Client required a solution which had minimal impact on internal operations and could provide a long-term solution for the building along with an updated, clean, fresh environment to park for all users.
Working alongside our supplier, WPA were able to diagnose and specify a suitable cost-effective solution tailored to the clients needs with the required protection and minimising time on site so we were able to turn around the project within a challenging timetable in a city centre environment.
Our Solution
A new Triflex Deck Defence solution was specified which is a solvent-free epoxy-based waterproof coating layer with a PMMA finish that is rapid curing due to the nature, location, and timetable of the project.
The durable solution protects decks and ramps from chemicals, chloride contamination, and carbon dioxide ingress, satisfies skid resistance requirements, and visually improves and enhances the parking environment.
The client is extremely happy with the completed works which were carried out during a challenging time of year and within a short timetable due to the location of the works. The works involved regular interface with Client representatives and ensuring that the building remained in use and protected throughout the refurbishment period. We are now working with the same clients on a similar project in the region.
