The B’Hive Community Hub in Port Glasgow has recently been given a new lease of life thanks to a major refurbishment carried out by Weatherproofing Advisors in partnership with Inverclyde Council. The building was outdated and in poor condition before its transformation into a modern support hub for families and the general public.
The refurbishment focused on completely renewing the building’s external envelope. The team removed the old, defective cladding and installed new steelwork, vapour barriers and high performance insulation before fitting a robust profiled steel cladding system. Bespoke flashings were carefully finished around windows and a bold grey-yellow colour scheme was chosen to tie in with the B’Hive identity. All of this was done while working alongside other trades, ensuring the project ran smoothly and without disruption to neighbouring community services.
The finished result is a striking transformation. The tired, ageing building has been turned into a modern and vibrant looking asset of the Port Glasgow area. With its fresh new look, updated facilities and strong branding, the B’Hive is now a place where families and locals can feel proud to gather. Weatherproofing Advisors are delighted to have played a part in delivering a project that will support the community for years to come.
Weatherproofing Advisors were successfully appointed to install a new wall cladding system for the B'Hive Community Hub in Port Glasgow.
The existing community centre was to be redeveloped by Inverclyde Council into a new family support hub. The B’Hive, based in Boglestone Community Centre, is a space where parents and children can meet, learn new skills and get help and advice about a range of local services and support under one roof.
To transform and modernise the appearance of the existing building, a new cladding envelope specification was installed by WPA. This incorporated the removal of existing cladding, installation of support steelwork, then fixing new insulation and profiled steel cladding panel. Bespoke flashings were fitted around new windows located around the building.
Working closely with other trades, the cladding installation was carried out with minimum disruption to adjacent community facilities. The bespoke details around the building were expertly fitted by our experienced on-site team.
The existing aged building has been completely transformed, giving a new look in dark grey and yellow, in a nod to the B’Hive name. The new name and branding were designed and developed with the local community.
The new B’Hive centre provides a great resource for families in the area, with new internal and external spaces being created as part of the refurbishment.
Weatherproofing Advisors are pleased to have played our part in helping to improve the appearance of this community facility.
